How can I create the Java executable that can run on any Windows computer? Are there free compilers for this?
I was in computer programming for a number of years. Today, I began to work on mainframe (COBOL and JCL mainly). They put me on the web and more like a hobby PC. I have a C + + (and the old version of Borland Turbo C + + I believe) that creates executables that can run on any Windows machine. Am interested in finding a way to do it with Java (since java exeption handling is much easier for me to put into practice). I currently use for my Borland JBuilder Java development. Should I use something else? Do any of these compilers are available in a version of open source or free? If they do this free version still provide the same functionality?
