What are the skills and information if a computer science student has learned after graduation?

I am currently attends a local college in my area, but it seems slow and the conference some of the things that are taught tedious, if prior learning either by myself or the school. My major is computer programming, in anticipation of the transfer at the end of my colleagues, school funded by the local state to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in computing, my interests and focus on computer programming. I've always been very independent and wants to become a self-devoted as it seems to me to learn more quickly and without bias instructor and social interactions necessary for the schools here seem to encourage. So the question is, what do I learn to read and so I can match my self-training to a graduate who earned his BS in computer science? What books are recommended? Is there a site where I can compare my education to students colleges and / or measure my progress?

Some of the best programmers in the business do not have degrees. Just get the certification in the region where you want to work. I went from a AA to a BA and a Master of Science Computing. After 50 grams on education I'm working on doing a great job of medical programming, but there are people who have certificates from Microsoft that cost 7 or 8 large they doing the same work. Higher education comes to play in the competition for positions.
